Class Behaviour

We want all of our students to have an enjoyable and educational experience. We will treat you and your children with courtesy and respect. We expect our students to show the same attitude toward their teachers and fellow dancers. We request that your children observe the following simple rules:
-
Pay attention to your teacher – don’t talk with your friends during class - meet your friends before or after class for social fun!
-
Food and drinks are permitted in the changing rooms and waiting room only. Water can be taken into the studios in suitable bottles. Please dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided.
-
Come prepared to dance – attire, grooming, attitude, ambition, energy!

Classroom Etiquette
Reasonable rules and standards are provided to promote self-discipline. Students should arrive at the school with sufficient time to change into dance shoes to begin class on time. Older students must be warmed up prior to class. If students need to leave before the end of the class, they should notify the teacher before class begins. Students may not leave the classroom without first receiving permission from the teacher.Teachers have the responsibility to see that their class is under control, and they have the authority to dismiss any student who will not cooperate and is a disruption to the rest of the class. Inappropriate dress or behaviour will not be allowed. No gum, food or drinks will be permitted inside the classrooms during class or rehearsal.
Studio Policies
Please follow our studio policies to ensure your child’s safety, progress and positive learning experience here at ‘Junior Masters’.
Please be aware that the Principal of Junior Masters has the right to refuse lessons to any child who is causing continued disruption to other class members’ learning experience.
No child can attend two schools as this can only cause conflicting interests and makes it very difficult for not only the teacher and schools concerned, but also the child in hand as they are expected to have split loyalties.
This is at the discretion of the principal.
GROOMING
We always want to present a polished appearance. Hair must be up off the back of the neck and slicked away from the face, in either a ponytail, bun or suitable style for the lesson your child is going to undertake. A bun is mandatory for all Classical Ballet classes.
Jewellery is not allowed for safety reasons, however, small stud earrings are acceptable.
Neat dance warm ups may be worn until your muscles are warm. Please speak to your tutor if you are unsure of what to buy.
Do NOT wear dance shoes outside. Wearing dance shoes outside ruins the sole and also tracks dirt, oil, gravel and stones into the studio, causing damage to the floor and also carrying germs.

UNIFORM
Please always adhere to the uniform list as we are training your child for a very disciplined career/hobby ... and when you look the part, you feel the part and generally work better, as when you look in the mirror you are seeing a neat, groomed and polished dancer/performer.
ATTENDANCE
There are no refunds on classes missed; however you are welcome to make this lesson up by attending the grade below your own. (This cannot be the grade above as if your body were ready for that class you would be training at that level and we do not want to incur injuries) However if we have to cancel a class for some reason we will endeavour to ensure the lesson is made up or the following terms fees amended accordingly if this is not physically possible. Please also try and notify us via our private Facebook page, or email us if your child will be absent, as we can then let the teacher concerned know in advance.
OBSERVATION
This is at the relevant teachers discretion and you will be invited in if the tutor feels it is appropriate to do so.
COMMUNICATION
All concerns or any issues with anything relating to the school will be dealt with by Wendy Headford, or when the Principal is not available, by Michaela Headford. This includes anything relating to, or involving students, parents and our resident faculty. Please do not personally contact members of staff without passing everything by us first. Also if possible, please email through the portal so everything is logged.
SHOWS AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
We have one main school show every other year in which the entire school will have the opportunity to be a part of. There may also occasionally be smaller scale performances for some pupils.

PROGRESSIVE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME
The P.D. Programme is by invitation only as it requires a certain standard, natural facility and ability from the individual student. Graded modern and tap lessons will be monitored throughout the year by Miss Kyla to note progress and look for potential youngsters for selection.

FESTIVALS AND COMPETITIONS
Children will be invited to enter festivals based on their suitability. Festivals are unfortunately not as they once were and are now of a very high standard and quite cut throat, so it takes a certain student and standard to be able to do them and also to have the ability to accept the criticism. This being the case, we are very selective when it comes down to choosing the individuals, as they are representing our school. If we feel your child is suitable, we will approach you to discuss this.
Please note that Good Manners and Proper Etiquette are always expected. This way we can ensure that we keep ourselves a very happy and united JUNIOR MASTERS.
